It is very unlikely that Codemasters will ever add split-screen play to Dirt 4. If you are insistent of racing against other people in split-screen you will have to find another game. In the online modes, you can race people on a single circuit in rally cross (which would be perfect for split-screen play) or on your own track in classic rally. The only multiplayer options are online, and while they offer a lot of replayability, it would be great to race your friends locally. Unfortunately, Dirt 4 follows the trends of many other recent racing games and does not include a split-screen mode. However, many players would rather take on friends in the comfort of their own home while using split-screen. Joining a lobby of seven other racers and taking on the same track at the same time, watching as the positions constantly change is thrilling. 
Dirt 4 is fantastic when you are playing against other people, setting times, and challenging other people to beat you.
